The marketplace for independent film and theatre investment.

PIE connects investors with the productions that need funding. Register your interest before we launch: investors will be first to be invited onto the platform, and productions will be first to be listed.

PIE is not yet authorised by the FCA. Registering your interest is not an offer or a commitment, and no money is taken.

What we do.

PIE is building a marketplace where investors back independent film and theatre, and where productions find the funding to get made. We are opening a list now, so the first people in are the first on the platform.

For investors

Be first to be invited when PIE launches.

What you get

  • A first invitation onto the platform when we launch
  • A first look at the independent film and theatre productions listed for funding
  • A private dashboard to follow the productions you back

What we ask for

  • Your name and email
  • Roughly how much you might invest, as a guide only

For productions

Be first to be listed when PIE launches.

What you get

  • A first place on the platform, ready to open for funding at launch
  • A dedicated company for your production, with the revenue-share terms set out before anything goes live
  • One place to keep your backers updated on budget and milestones

What we ask for

  • Roughly how much funding you would look for at launch
  • Whether it is theatre or independent film
  • Your contact details, and optionally a few details about the production
Step 1

Register your interest

Tell us a little about you or your production. It takes a minute or two and commits you to nothing.

Step 2

We keep you in the loop

We will email you as PIE takes shape, and let you know when launch is close.

Step 3

Be first at launch

Investors are invited onto the platform first, and registered productions are listed first.

PIE is not yet authorised by the FCA, so we cannot take investment or raise money for any production today. Registering your interest is not an offer, and nothing here is investment advice. Investing in productions can mean losing all of your money.

Be first in at launch.

Register your interest as an investor or as a production. The earlier you register, the earlier you are invited or listed.

Early access, if you qualify.

Some investors can come onto PIE now, ahead of launch. If you are a certified high-net-worth individual or a certified or self-certified sophisticated investor, you can join our early access list. You sign up in the same way, and confirm which category applies to you.

FPO Article 48

Certified high-net-worth individual

  • Income of at least £100,000 in the last financial year
  • Or net assets of at least £250,000, excluding your main residence, pension and certain insurance
  • Confirmed with a signed statement, valid for 12 months
FPO Article 50 / 50A

Certified or self-certified sophisticated investor

  • Made more than one investment in an unlisted company in the last two years
  • Or worked in private equity or corporate finance in the last two years
  • Or been a director of a company with turnover of £1m+ in the last two years
  • Or are a member of a network or syndicate of business angels

These are simplified summaries, not the full statutory wording. Early access is only for investors who confirm that one of these applies to them, and the exact statement is confirmed when you sign up. PIE is not yet authorised by the FCA. Investing in productions can mean losing all of your money, and you may not be able to sell your stake.

Frequently asked.

What is PIE?+
PIE is a new marketplace for independent film and theatre investment. Productions list what they need to fund, and investors back the ones they believe in. We are opening a list now, ahead of launch.
Is PIE regulated by the FCA?+
Not yet. We're engaging with the FCA's Innovation Pathways service as we work toward full authorisation. Until then, PIE does not take investment or raise money for any production, and registering your interest is not an offer.
What happens when I register as an investor?+
You tell us your name, email and roughly how much you might invest, as a guide only. You commit to nothing. We keep you updated, and you are among the first invited onto the platform when it launches.
Can I get early access?+
If you are a certified high-net-worth individual or a certified or self-certified sophisticated investor, you can join the separate early access list when you register as an investor, and confirm your category. It is not open to everyone. PIE is not yet authorised by the FCA, and investing can mean losing all of your money.
I run a production. What does registering involve?+
Choose Register as a producer and tell us roughly how much funding you would look for at launch, whether it is theatre or film, and how to reach you. Production details are optional. We aim to reply within five working days, and registered productions are the first to be listed. The producer guide explains more.
Can I invest or raise money now?+
Not yet. PIE is not yet authorised by the FCA, so no money can be invested or raised through the platform today. Registering puts you first in line for when we launch.
What will investors get?+
A direct contractual right to an agreed share of a production's future revenue, held through a dedicated company set up for that show or film. It's not a listed share, and not something that can currently be resold on an open market. Investors can lose all of the money they put in.
What kind of productions will be on PIE?+
Independent film and theatre, of any budget and at any stage, from a first script to a show in rehearsal.
